Definition of a Blog Comment

The definition of what a blog comment means.
A blog comment in our marketing stats email is the number of comments left that week for all of your blog posts. A blog comment itself is a comment that someone submits through a form on one of your blog pages.

Blog comments can be an indicator of how effective a blog post is, because the more comments typically means the more popular the post was. It's also a way for visitors to interact socially with you and get answered questions they might have about what you wrote.

There is also a down side to blog comments and that is comment spam. Typically this is unwanted and unnatural comments submitted artificially to your blog post by a computer program. Spammers do this as some blogs provide a link back to the commenter's website which helps with SEO. So the spammer may write a generic comment and have a computer program submit it to as many blog posts as they can find in hopes that they will get links back to their website.

To prevent comment spam we install several plugins on your blog. We also don't count spam comments or any unapproved comment as part of your comment count on the weekly marketing stats email.

For an example of how comments work, check out one of our blog posts and write a comment.
