How many words should a web page have for SEO?
The simple answer to that is it depends on your industry and subject matter your writing about.But a safe and accepted, objective value is around 2,000 words.

An analyse of the top 10 search results for over 20,000 keywords done by serpIQ showed that the top 10 results typically have +2,000 words.
What does that mean?
That means Google prefers sites that are rich in content. So if you want to rank in the top 10 then you should make sure your web page is rich in content.
Further more a study by Neil Patel (founder of Crazy Egg) showed that he got higher conversion rates when his website's content was longer.
So all and all, a web page with long content will both get more traffic and get more conversions. Therefore the popular saying among Internet marketers "content is king" has good merit.
